Meet The Team

D'Ette Owen

D’Ette has spent her professional career in the customer service industry. She learned early the true meaning of customer service through extensive travel with her parents. As the daughter of a Jazz musician (and later a vocalist herself), she spent her youth traveling EVERYWHERE, and living nowhere until settling in Alaska in 1979.

D’Ette has over 15 years in the real estate and property management industry. (We don’t discuss how many years in the customer service arena!) Her relationships with friends and family are her primary motivators. Her husband, Fred, teases her about being in real estate just to make more friends. She considers it an added blessing to have made new friends

D’Ette proudly boasts being spoiled wonderfully by her husband, Fred. He patiently tolerated the numerous times he was put to work to assist a client with projects or the team with client events. Finally, he gave in completely and became a Buyer’s Specialist for the team. (Funny…the workload didn’t decrease at all!!!)….( Fred and D’Ette reside on Lower Hillside where they live with their youngest son, Scotty, and any number of additional teens they have “adopted” at that time. D’Ette just doesn’t see a need to waste all those years in training as a den mother for a frat house (her description of raising three boys).

D'Ette was also the 2010 President of the Anchorage Board of Realtors.

Fred Owen

Fred was born and raised in Houston, TX. He spent the majority of his life in construction and maintenance. D’Ette has been training him for many years, beginning in the lower 48 when they worked property management and acquisition rehab teams together. It seemed only logical to finally have him get his license and admit to the world she is boss(y). His unequivocal knowledge in the construction, maintenance and repair field brings a huge benefit to our clients. He’s just happy to finally get a paycheck for it.

Ron Day

Ron has been best friends with Fred and D’Ette for over 15 years. The three of them have worked together in the service industry and property management throughout the country. In 2002, D’Ette persuaded Ron to come work with her full time. Most of Ron’s job description in the beginning was “behind the scenes”. He still does all that work for D’Ette: photography, signs, internet marketing, videography and D’Ette’s favorite gift, getting the job done… whatever it is! He has been the "glue" of the company for years. Taking care of whatever D'Ette felt was not up to par. So when business started to expand and she wanted the buyers to recieve more peronal attention, she decided it was time he got his license. In retrospect, she's not sure why she waited so long.

On a side note: the competition between Fred and Ron to get the best “reviews” (well, to do the best at ANYTHING, really) makes this a most beneficial time to be a buyer working with D’Ette and Company.

Jill Mehler

Jill is the operations director for D’Ette and Company. She ensures that your purchase will be on schedule and helps the team keep you informed every step of the way. She is the one who puts D’Ette's marketing ideas to paper - designing fliers, homebooks, postcards, and other marketing materials. Jill also fields requests and makes sure no date or detail is overlooked. She was raised doing real estate and has had her license since 2006. In a nutshell, she is our command center. Jill loves real estate and takes joy in helping buyers and sellers with their real estate dreams. A lifelong Alaskan, Jill resides in south Anchorage with her husband, Will, and daughter, Lilah.

While we have many others that work with our team (home inspectors, lenders, appraisers, contractors, engineers, etc.), these are the core members of D’Ette & Co.
